Matched. Crossed. Reached.
I read Matched and Crossed by Ally Condie earlier this summer, and I had to wait (only a little while, but still) for the conclusion to be released. As soon as it was, I bought and read Reached, and found myself to be very dissappointed.
Not in the quality of the writing, or even really in the story. I liked it.
But I had picked the wrong boy in the love triangle. The guy I was rooting for? She didn't pick him.
You know what I'm talking about. The Love Triangle.
In Twilight, Edward and Jacob compete for Bella's heart.
In Hunger Games, it's Peeta and Gale who are vying for Katniss' affection.
And in Matched, Xander and Ky are both in love with Cassia. And I was so sure of who she would pick. Who she would end up with in the end. But I was wrong.
The ending of the book wasn't badly done. I couldn't really even be upset with Cassia's choice. But I do feel like I should go back and read all three books now that I know how it ends. To see if the whole story looks differently to me now. I think that it must.
