I saw a really cute trick for making New Year's Resolutions for 2013 somewhere on the internets. It went something like this:
2 things that you want to do this year;
0 is for something that you don't want to do this year;
1 place you would like to go this year; and,
3 things you would like to learn this year.
I explained the whole thing to Connor and Lex, and we tried it out. Here our some of our resolutions:
Connor wants to make a snowman, doesn't want to fight with his brother, wants to go to Seattle, and would like to learn to speak Japanese and do magic.
Lex only contributed to the zero category: he said there would be no fighting, no kicking and no punching in 2013.
Personally, I like that the boys both want to eliminate fighting with each other. I can definitely be on board with that. Before taking to them though, I was thinking more along the lines of no more McDonald's or fast food for 2013, except on road trips, when it is almost unavoidable.
My place to go this year was also Seattle, just like Connor. I would like to learn magic and Japanese, too. I also would like to learn more about Native American cultures and history. I think we should go to the Serpent Mound in southwest Ohio as a part of that.
And just like that, we have our resolutions:
2 things we want to do: build a snowman and take a trip to the Serpent Mound
0 is for no fighting
1 place we want to go: Seattle
3 things we want to learn: magic, Japanese and Native American history/culture
What are your New Year's Resolutions for 2013?
