The first thing Connor does every morning these days is get online to check the Pokemon website for the official Pokemon of the Day. He used to check football scores on the ESPN website, but football season has been over for ages now...so I guess he needed something else to do. And Pokemon is great for him because there are all sorts of statistics and little tidbits for him to memorize. He loves things like that.
It didn't take long for him to start asking about the Trading Card Game. I bought him a Black & White starter set, and we learned how to play together. Honestly, those game developers over at Pokemon know what they are doing, and the kit came with step-by-step instructions so that we could learn the rules by actually playing the first game. Connor loved that we opened the box and played right away.
Fortunately for Connor, his Uncle Kevin used to be very involved with the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and still has his oodles of cards. He was kind enough to share some with Connor, and to help him make a few new decks to play with.
So now, in between games of Monopoly and Axis & Allies, you will find us playing Pokemon.
He has declared that he wants his next birthday party (in June) to be a Pokemon party. And, of course, he wants more Pokemon cards for his birthday.
