I think Horses have Funny Names

Yesterday we went to the American Quarter Horse Museum and Hall of Fame.

Why?

Because Texas.

O-H!

Every summer the All American Quarter Horse Congress descends upon the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus.  I saw it every year.  Now I live in Amarillo, the place that the American Quarter Horse Association calls home when not camped out in Columbus.

When you become president of the American Quarter Horse Association, you are presented with a special President's Gun.  Because Texas.

The kids and I actually really enjoyed the Hall of Fame exhibit with all the old hats and boots and guns and horseshoes on display, along with a timeline that combined race winners with world events.  I think the kids got a good sense of world history just from walking through it and reading about things like the start of WWI and the invention of the microwave and the elections of different presidents.

There was also a nice interactive exhibit area for kids that had different exhibits about caring for horses and how to ride them.
