Palo Duro Canyon

This past weekend, we went on a hike with our local homeschool group in our local canyon.  You know, the second largest canyon in the USA.  It's really great to live so close to such a wonderful place.

Here is a band of mountain goats.  Billies, nannies and kids.

This one is a panoramic photo, so you should click on it to see it larger.  It probably won't display properly on this page.

We hiked with a park ranger for about an hour.  He took us to see an old cowboy dugout, down to the bank of the river, and then up to the top of a big hill so that we could look down on the river.

Another panoramic shot.  This one is at the top of the big hill.  You should click on it.  It's pretty.

The Prairie Dog Town Fork Red River.  Because rivers need names as long as they are.

After the hike, we all had a picnic, and the kids played.

The canyon was so green this time!  It's been raining here a bit, and there was green stuff and flowers blooming all over.  Spring in the canyon is much different from winter in the canyon or summer in the canyon.
