Boettcher Mansion

The next stop on our 12th Anniversary Road trip was Boettcher Mansion at the top of Lookout Mountain.  We were looking for a gas station before we left Denver, and instead we ended up at the top of this mountain.  So, of course, we stopped to explore and play.

The kids had a fabulous time running through the woods and climbing on the rocks and trees, and finding sticks and pine cones to use as weapons.  There was a path, but they totally ignored it.

At one point, Connor found a stick that looked like a wooden pistol.  Lex found one that looked like a bazooka.  There were many battles.
