Getting Ready for School

I've bought the books that I will be using for the beginning of the school year:

Redstone Academy Back to School Soon

Lex's stack is on the left, and Connor's is on the right.

We started a huge timeline last year, but I was always hunting online for the figures to add to it, because I didn't want to spend $45 on these figure sets.  But then, they were on the clearance rack for $4 each. I'm kinda thrilled, because it will save me the hunting and printing from now on.

This was also on the clearance rack.  It's the 4th book in the series, and I was planning to do the 2nd book, but there isn't really any reason to go in order, so...

This is Connor's next math text.

After some reflection, I realized that the part of our homeschool day that works the least well is the transitions between subjects.  And, since we have so many things we study, there are a lot of transitions. So we aren't going to do that anymore. I've decided to get rid of some of them by doing semester blocks for some studies. We are going to focus on history for the first part of the year, and then do writing for the second part. Likewise, we are going to do Spanish for the first half of next year, and then switch to Latin.  I'll let you know if it makes a difference, but I anticipate it being more wonderful.

I will buy the rest of the curriculum for this year in January, when we finish this and switch at the semester.
