Chinese New Year

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, we went to Chinatown for a festival!

First, we found a restaurant that served Peking Duck, and then we had lunch.

Then we wandered around a small, but amazing, garden and watched some Chinese musical performances.

There was cotton candy and snow cones.

Then, finally, it was time for the performance of the Golden Lions!!

I honestly had no idea what to expect, and it was amazing, but intense.

As soon as the firecrackers started going off, and the drummers began drumming, and the lions started dancing, all the tiny humans started freaking out and screaming.  So many parents had to comfort their babies.  Fortunately, Connor and Lex are older!  So we got to enjoy the spectacle with no crying.

And it was quite the spectacle!

Happy Chinese New Year!

P.S. It's the year of the dog.

P.S. #2  A man gifted us a lucky plant.

It seems to be a narcissus, which is traditionally associated with luck and the Chinese New Year.
