I am pleased to present the activity program that was entitled: Island Challenge. Once we got there we found out why it was called Island Challenge. There were little plastic tarps set up on the floor, and the kids gathered around them as if they were islands. Each island was a different color, and the kids at each island became a tribe. Connor and Lex sat at the red island and were therefore part of the red tribe.
Then, they designed some books and bookcases. But for some reason the bookcases were made of gum drops and toothpicks. I'm still not sure why anyone would dream to build a bookcase out of gum drops and toothpicks, or even how what they built are supposed to act as bookcases, but here we are, with gum drop and toothpick "bookcases."

The kids seemed to have enough fun to fill an hour on a hot summer afternoon, even if none of them could make heads or tails of this strange activity program.
When we were done with Challenge Island, we spent a few minutes with the Children's librarian in order to report their summer reading progress. Both boys had read enough Harry Potter books to earn their summer reading rewards and add their names to the wall of fame. Lex asked me to take a photo of his name.
