I have been waiting for both of these for a while, and they have both just been released.
I already read the first two books in the Emily St. John Mandel series. And I use the term "series" loosely. They aren't part of a series in a traditional sense. It's more that the books all take place in the same alternate reality that is only slightly different from our own, and the same characters pop up now and again.
I really love the first sentence of books.
I think that the opening sentence is really significant.
This one packs in a lot of information!
And then the second sentence balances it really nicely by being so brief.
I really enjoyed this book. It was fantastic. There was time travel and it talked about simulation theory. Oh, and pandemics. Even though it was pretty short, there was a lot going on.
I'm contemplating re-reading all three of these Emily St. John Mandel books. Now that I know what is going on, I think I will discover more details that I missed on the first reading.
Before that, though....I want to read the Ramayana to learn about the myth of Rama. (I have that book already waiting for me.) Then I plan to read Kaikeyi, which is based upon that story.
