We were really looking forward to our local Independence Day festival and fireworks display. The forecast that morning didn't look good, but by the middle of the day, the chance for rain had dropped to 0%.
So, Kevin and I set up our picnic area on the City Green so that we would have enough space and some good seats.
But first, let me take a selfie.
This is what America tastes like.
It was really hot, but we were having a lot of fun.
I got some food from the Korean BBQ food truck. It was delicious.
The band was good.
All was right with the world.
Then, the weather took a turn. It started sprinkling at first, which was honestly nice because it cooled us all down. When it stopped raining, I thought that it was over.
I was wrong.
I went to the bathroom, and in the short time I was away, the sky turned. The clouds were thick and gray and the rain started again.
Then, there was a huge crack of thunder and lightning struck nearby.
The sound equipment was fried, and the music stopped.
That's when we packed it all up and headed to the car in the parking garage under the park, which is a totally safe place in a thunderstorm.
It started pouring rain, and the fireworks were postponed.
Then cancelled.
