The Weaver and the Witch Queen

Book Club for One

Opening Line:

"A horn sounded across the water in two short bursts."

This is a particularly nasty burn:

"And Gunnhild would never forget the way her mother looked at her then, as though she were sorry that Gunnhild had ever been born."

This is a universal truth, I think:

"There's nothing that will cause you greater grief than trying to fulfill or avoid a prophecy."

I really loved her first book, The Witch's Heart, and even though this one has less Loki, it was still really good.
