Matchstick Marvels

I found this today on Mugglenet, the *coolest* Harry Potter site online!

Apparently, these people, Matchstick Marvels, have built a model of Hogwarts. They used over 500,000 matchsticks, and it took more than 3 years. Now the model is going to be displayed in a museum.

First, let me say how cool I think this is. Second, I have some questions.

When they say that it is built from matchsticks, what exactly do they mean? I expected to see little red dots at the ends of each stick, where they would be lit. And, how are these matchsticks held together? How hard is this to do? Could I learn it? Maybe build a small model of my own home or something?

That is all.
