Erec Rex

This book was pretty good. It wasn't Harry Potter, but it was a fun read while I'm waiting for the next HP book to come out.

The reason that I compare the book to Harry Potter is because it smacks of similiarities. Just look at the cover, first of all. Then, the author uses a bit of J.K. Rowling's formula: add one teenage boy with a deformity and bad hair who doesn't know the truth about his parents to a magical world that he didn't know existed, sprinkle with a new magical sport and some bad guys and BAM! You have a new children's book! :)

The main difference in this story and HP is that this author didn't get too much into the inner workings of the characters. There wasn't a ton of internal dialogue or description, but there was much more action that Rowling has ever fit into a tome of the same slender size as a result.

All that aside, the story was entertaining and the writing wasn't too shabby. I'll definitely read the second book, just to figure out what is really going on with Erec Rex and who his father is.
