It's a Boy!

I really don't know what I was thinking when this picture was taken, but look at my big belly!

I had another ultrasound this week, and everything is looking good. The baby is 10.5 inches long, and 14 ounces. We saw his brain, heart, and all the important stuff, and everything looks fine. It was totally neat to see his little face. I had both a 2D and a 3D ultrasound, and I guess that the 3D usually doesn't get good shots of the baby's face this early, but we have a lovely picture of our baby's foot! I'm hoping that I'll get to have another ultrasound between now and June. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it when I go back next month.

For my appointment next month, I have to drink a bottle of fruit punch flavored glucose syrup about 30 mintues before I go in. The bottle is sitting in the fridge right now. Then, after I get to the doctor's office, they are going to draw my blood to see how well my body processed the glucose. It's a test to see whether or not I have developed gestational diabetes. I'm not worried about that, I'm just worried about leaving the drink at home the morning of my appointment, and that it is going to taste awful, and that I have to drink the whole thing in under 10 minutes.

Now that we know we are having a boy, we've started to get serious about names. We picked Connor, but we didn't realize that we were spelling it differntly until just recently. I was spelling it Conner, while Kevin was spelling it Connor. I looked it up this morning, and Conner is the Irish spelling, while Connor is the Scottish spelling. It's interesting that I am Irish and was spelling it the Irish way, and Kevin is Scottish, spelling it the Scottish way, but neither of us have ever known a Conner or Connor before. I think we are going to go with the Connor spelling, though, as that is what has been more popular recently, so our kid will have a greater chance of finding his name on those little pencils and bike license plates, and maybe more people will spell it right.

The other thing that happened as a result of my ultrasound was that the doctor picked the June 27th due date over the June 10th due date. (I had two prior to this.) So, it looks like I'm going to have the baby closer to the end of June. I guess due dates calculated by ultrasound like this are accurate within 3 days. We'll see how good the doctor is.
