Since I've been pregnant, Kevin and I have been stopping at the grocery store more frequently. It seems as though we are always out of milk (and I confess that it is me drinking it) or something else that I just *have* to have right then.
So, last night we were in Kroger (again) and while Kevin was checking out, I noticed that there was no one at the DVD machine near the customer service desk. I decided to check it out, and three easy steps later, I had the Borat DVD in my hand. It's like someone took an entire Blockbuster store and put it in a little box with a computer! The whole system has a footprint of no more than 3 feet by 3 feet. It's amazing. Plus, since they don't have to pay rent for a storefront, or for people to staff it, the DVD rentals are only $1 a day. And it's not like I'm not going to be going back to Kroger tonight (we need more milk, again...but I blame that on the fact that I made chocolate chip cookies last night, so I drank an extra 2 glasses of milk before bed), so it will be easy to return.
Anyways, Borat was highly entertaining. The movie was totally inappropriate for just about anyone, but I haven't laughed so hard EVER! I still can't believe that he didn't get arrested doing some of the stuff that he did, but maybe he did get taken into custody a few times before he explained that he *really* was an American. Ha! It was a great movie.
I picked it because I knew that Kevin wanted to see it, and he was a little unsure at first, because he didn't know how the DVD machine would work, but he was totally glad that I got it after he had watched it.
So, tonight, I will learn how to return the DVD to the little machine, and hopefully this whole thing will be a good experience, and I can use it to get $1 DVD rentals from now on.
Sidebar: The last time we rented movies from Blockbuster, we spent more than $15 to get 3 DVDs for one night. With this system, that would only have cost us $3. Now I feel like Blockbuster is a huge rip off! (We mostly get our DVDs from the library, which are free, but sometimes I don't want to wait a few weeks for something, or the library is closed.)
Has anyone else ever used these new-fangled DVD rental machines?
