I am not pleased...

...and THAT is putting it MILDLY.

My dishwasher has been out of service for some time. I hate doing dishes by hand.

The first dishwasher service man stood me up. He was scheduled to come out, called Kevin on his phone and said that he was on his way, and then he never showed up. Never called. Nothing.

So, I took it upon myself to call and schedule another company to come out and repair my dishwasher. I was very specific about the fact that I would not be home today until 12:30, but that they could come any time after that.

At 11:40 this morning, I got a phone call inquiring as to why I was not home, as the service man was at the house. I told them that I was at work, and that I would be at home at 12:30, as promised. They told me that he would wait for me to arrive.

I got home right at 12:30, and to be polite, I apologized to the man for his wait. He didn't speak. He just glared at me, as if I had run over his dog. We'll call this service man Oscar the Grouch.

Oscar came in and starting puttering around with the dishwasher. He then declared it "broken" and "in need of repair." (BTW - I ALREADY KNEW THAT!) He then asked for $64 for the service call, and told me that one of the girls from the office would call with an estimate and to schedule the service. I thought that's what he was there to do, so I pressed him for more information - apparently the dishwasher needs a new motor and filter, and with parts and labor, and in his opinion, I'd be better off buying a new one.

OTG made $64 for approximately 64 minutes worth of work, 40 of which he spent sitting in his truck in my driveway, to tell me what I already knew. I'm going to get the estimate by phone, and then use it to comparison shop other service companies or to justify buying a new dishwasher.
