Worst Movie Adaptation Ever

I finally rented Twilight, and I've decided to go ahead and give the movie industry a mulligan.

That's right, they need to re-do it. And this time, they need to get a screenwriter who has actually READ THE BOOK.

I understand that a novel doesn't translate directly onto the screen. I can forgive plot changes or omissions that need to be made in order to accommodate a movie's limitations. What I can't get past is the sense that this screenwriter had never read the book, and just wrote the screen play based upon what his kids told him about the story. Seriously. Kevin watched part of it with me, and he couldn't keep up. I knew what was supposed to be happening because I know the book, but he was totally confused about why people were doing things and who hadn't been killed, etc.

And just because the character Bella is supposed to be a bad actress in the story does not mean that they should have gone out and found a bad actress to portray her.

That's my two cents, take it or leave it.
