Summer Reading - Again!

I finished the rest of the published Huxtable quintet by Mary Balogh. There is one more book expected to be released, but it hasn't been finished yet.

I enjoyed all of these books, and in the time that I spent reading these three, I was also reading another book. (I had these books upstairs, and another book downstairs, so that wherever I happened to be, I could easily read without having to go trudging up and down the stairs needlessly.)

In the time that it took me to read all three of these books, I only finished half of another book that I am currently reading, The Witching Hour by Anne Rice.

I've never read anything by Anne Rice before. I remember starting to read her Vampire Chronicles once before, and giving up very shortly into the first book. In fact, if I hadn't been on bed rest when I started The Witching Hour, I would have given up on that book, too.

She seems to start her books off so s.l.o.w.l.y.

I mean, 60 some odd pages about porches and windows??

But since the beginning, it has become a very engrossing book. I just hope that the next book in the series doesn't start off so slowly!

I think I warned you:) This is my first attempt at her stuff too. I agree it's very slow-going in the first book---and by the time she started talking of Michael's background, I started skipping ahead--too much history and detail for my taste--until you start hitting the story line---wait til you get to the pregnant parts--I hope you get there while you still are:) I'm still only half way through book 3 now (I only read for about a half hour each night before bed now--so you can imagine the Ann Rice stuff is slow-going)--but it's really good!
