it is totally possible to smash a two-year old's fingers in the car door while he is standing by the front car door and you are closing the rear car door. always check behind you.

back-story:

connor was trying to open the front car door while i was putting lex in the car tonight. he locked the car with the remote, so he couldn't make the handle work. he apparently decided to try to pry the front door open with his fingers at the edge, so when i closed the rear door, his fingers got stuck in the tiny crack between the front and rear doors and the car was locked, so i couldn't open either door to get his fingers out until i found the keys in his other hand.

poor little tyke. i never thought to check behind me to see what he was doing before i closed the door in front of me. i learned that lesson and connor learned a lesson about keeping his fingers away from the car door at all times.

after some hugs and kisses and some ice, i am very relieved to report that his fingers are fine.
