Race for the Cure

This morning, the boys and I participated in the Race for the Cure...

...along with my good friend Carrie and her mother-in-law...

...and approximately 55,000 of our closest friends. The Columbus Komen Race for the Cure is the third largest in the country.

We ran. We walked. We did the family fun mile, because the 5k route was too crowded for the wagon or to let Connor out to run.

I'm glad that I took the boys. Because I wasn't just doing it for me. I was also doing it for them. And their future wives and daughters. And for Kevin.

We did it for Nana and Grandma Ella. And for my Grandmother, who is a breast cancer survivor. And for my cousin Pam, who probably remembers when all of Grandma's hair fell out better than I do. And for Pam's daughters.

We did it for our other cousin, Megan, who wanted to participate in the race today, too, but couldn't. And for her daughters. And for Aunt Kathy. And Aunt Evona, God rest her soul.

Honestly, we did it for all of the women in our family, and there are a lot! And for all of the women in your family, too.

We did it for all of our friends. And we did it for you.
