The American Pastime

We are full swing into Project: Americana around here, whereby I instill a sense of national pride into our small boys. I expect them to be bursting with red, white and blue by the time that the Fourth of July rolls around.

So, today, we enjoyed a nice game of baseball, the American Pastime, with Grandpa and Uncle Kevin.

First, Connor was the pitcher.

Doesn't he just look the part? He gets his natural athletic ability from his Dad. And then, his Dad has taught him how to play all the sports they can think of, so the kid is good.

See? Uncle Kevin is no match for Connor!

Now it's Grandpa's turn at the bat.

Connor has a pretty good batting average. Especially considering the fact that he isn't even 3 years old yet.

Here he is sliding. He loves to slide! We took him to a park one evening last month, and there was a travelling league playing a baseball game. Connor watched those 10 year olds play baseball intently. And as soon as they were done, he claimed the field and flung himself down with reckless abandon over and over, until he was filthy and he had mastered the slide. I blame those 10 year old boys for my laundry pile.

While I love his imagination, we may want to go ahead and buy the kid a catcher's mitt.
