Arts & Crafts

As the weather has turned more fall-like, Connor has turned his attention to arts and crafts.

For a long time this summer, he just wasn't interested in coloring or painting or those types of indoor things.

But, his artistic spark has been rekindled! And I am taking full advantage of it.

We've done a variety of projects, and I'm really impressed with how they have all turned out. Honestly, I've been assisting and guiding, but he is doing them himself. I've even taught him how to use a hot glue gun.

Enough chatter. On to the art show!

Painting the monster mask.

The finished mask!

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

This pumpkin turkey was fun to assemble. Parts of the foam kit were self-stick, and the we used a hot glue gun for the other parts. Connor did very well, and the only person who got burned was me, when I touched a dab of hot glue that had fallen onto the table. The bucket that the foam kit came in was just as fun as the project itself. Before it hit the recycling bin, it was a hat, a shopping cart, a basket ball hoop, etc...

Lex wasn't happy about not being allowed to use the hot glue gun, but he did find some solace in coloring the pumpkin that I drew for him.

Lex was much happier about the water color painting.

Of course, he thought that the paints were delicious.

I hung his water color painting right where he could admire it. I think he has taken a real pride in his work, as he hasn't ripped it down yet.

This is Connor's rendition of a John Deere excavator.
