Rockets and Pirates

As you know, Connor is totally into all things rocket.

Yesterday he added all things pirate to his interests.

Today we made treasure maps, did pirate activities out of a pirate fun book that I had stashed away, searched for treasure and pretended that the couch was our boat.

He can't wait for the new Disney Junior show, Jake and the Neverland Pirates. (Premiering on Valentine's Day. We have big plans for Valentine's Day this year.)

But that isn't the only place this new interest came from. We also saw a buried treasure and map episode of Little Einsteins this weekend. And a similar one on Bob the Builder. It was a trifecta of pirate treasure hunting that started this whole new pirate thing.

So, today I overheard him doing a countdown (which is *very* common around here), and here is the conversation that followed it:

Connor: Eight... Seven... Six... Five... Four... Three... Two... One... Light the Canons!

Me: What are you shooting your canon balls at?

Connor: I'm not. The canon did a blast off.

Me: Into outer space?

Connor: Yes.

Me: Oh. Of course.

The other thing that he has been saying all day is, "Yo ho ho! Let's go!"
