We hired a Cessna 172 Skyhawk from a small local airport to take us sightseeing. In case you aren't familiar with a Skyhawk, it is a small plane with two seats in the front seat, and two seats in the back. That means that there was room for the pilot, Kevin and I, and one more person. We decided to take Connor along with us. Sorry, Lex, maybe next time!
(When we were done, Connor asked me why we had brought Daddy along on his flight. I explained to him that the flight was for Mommy and Daddy's anniversary, and we were nice enough to invite him!)
You see, the traditional 6th anniversary gift is iron, and Kevin figured that there had to be something made of iron somewhere on that plane.
We flew over our house, and we were heading towards downtown Columbus when Connor started to feel sick, so we turned back and landed. Even though we cut our tour a little bit short, it was a fun time, and I could see us doing it again! It was actually much cheaper than we thought it would be. The whole experience cost us about $55, for about 45 minutes in the air.
(Hint: Look for the green garage door and the silver car in the drive)Kevin is actually interested in getting his pilot's license.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about our pilot. During the week, he flies medical transport helicopters. He flies sightseeing tours on the weekends for fun. While he was flying, he took several photos on his smart phone and posted them to Facebook. I'm not sure what the FAA regulations are about Facebooking while flying, but I was surprised to see him do it!
