In which Connor goes to the doctor

Today Connor had his 4 year-old well-check at the doctor's office. Yes, it was a little bit early since his birthday isn't until the end of the month, but it worked for our schedule.

Connor weighs 37.5 pounds, and he is 41 inches tall. Which still isn't tall enough to ride the lazy river at our pool. So, the good doctor encouraged him to eat more fruits and vegetables...and that is a fruitless (and vegetable-less) effort. In fact, she told him that if he ate a serving a green beans at dinner tonight, that I would pay him $20. I'm not too worried about having to shell out the money she promised him, though I would be happy to do it.

Connor performed all sorts of tricks for the doctor. She asked him if he could count to ten, and he counted...and counted...and counted...until no one was paying attention to him anymore. Which I think ticked him off, because he refused to cooperate with her next few requests.

Did he know the alphabet? No, he said.
Did he know any letters? No, he said.
Can he draw a person? No, he said.
Can he draw a circle? No, he said.

None of which is true. So I handed him a pen, and told him to write his name. He wrote, "Connor." And the doctor was truly impressed, especially that he knew his lower case letters, and gave up on the developmental tests.

Next came the gross motor tests, and Connor was happy to jump all around the office, balancing on one foot, and bending and stretching this way and that.

The doctor proclaimed Connor a "very cool 4 year-old" and gave him a high five.

This is going to be his last well-check with our good doc, though, because she is transferring to another office that doesn't see patients under the age of 12. I am so sad about this. And so is the doctor. She almost cried at the end of our visit. She said Connor and Lex were on her mind every day when she was making the decision, and it was really hard to leave them. She can still be my doctor, and Kevin's, so she will still get to see the boys when Kevin and I are sick. Not that we are hoping for that anytime soon.

So, I need a new good pediatrician. If you have any local recommendations, let me know.

No, these pictures don't really relate to this post. I just like them. This is Connor at Niagara Falls, on Goat's Island on the United States side. You can see the Horseshoe Falls in the background.

And yes, he is wearing a pair of Lex's size 2T shorts. They almost fit, too. (We got soaked in the falls, and I had run out of clothing options in my bag by that point. Pood kid.)
