Weekly Fresh Market Bag, Kooky Faces and Elmo

We have been getting the Weekly Fresh Market Bag from the Greener Grocer at the North Market now for several weeks now, and I *love* it.

This week we are getting heirloom tomatoes, radishes, onions, chevre (I'm still waiting to find out what this is - see how exciting this is!), blueberries, cantaloupe, cucumber, sweet corn, sweet potatoes, blackberries, garlic and red skin peaches. All from local farms. All organic and pesticide free, where possible.

Last week's bag contained some fun things that I had never tried before, including sea beans (which were surprisingly salty tasting, fun to nibble on their own, and great in a salad) and Gretna Grilling cheese.

Kevin, Lex and I have been eating more fresh fruits and veggies around here since we subscribed to the weekly fresh market bag. Connor, however, has become even more picky, and he hardly eats anything at all. He would rather be hungry than eat a vegetable or a fruit. He also seems to suspect that I'm trying to sneak a fruit or veggie past him all the time. It makes me sad.

(And no, he isn't really going hungry. He basically ate an entire large jar of Nutella by himself this week. That's what he makes for himself when he doesn't want to eat what is presented to him. I always tell him that I already made him dinner, and that if he wants something different, then he has to make it himself. So he makes a Nutella sandwich or a roll-up...which is basically Nutella spread on a flour tortilla and then rolled up. It's healthy enough, but I wish he would try something new.)

We have an Elmo book in which Elmo doesn't want to eat dinner, until he gets to turn his dinner into Kooky Faces. I tried it...and...it didn't work. Connor still wouldn't touch anything on his plate!

You would have tried the kooky face, right? I couldn't believe that he wouldn't even try the cheese. He loves cheese normally!
