January 2012 Lego Mini Build
On the first Tuesday of the month of January 2012 it was bitter cold.
Snowflakes swirled in the air, even though there really was no accumulation on the ground.
Connor reminded me that, as it was the first Tuesday of the month, there was to be a Lego Mini Build that night.
You know, the one for the snakes.
The one he has been looking forward to for an entire month.
I groaned, and complained that it was too cold to stand outside in a line outside the Lego store for 45 minutes.
Connor insisted that we must go.
I pulled out an Official Mommy Trump Card and informed Connor that we would not, under any circumstances, stand outside in the snow in the freezing cold and dark in a lengthy line to get a small Lego snake.
Connor plotted.
He put on his Under Armour and warm socks.
He suggested the Lex and I do the same.
He told me that he didn't think there would be a line that night.
You know, since the weather was so bad.
Finally, we agreed that we would go to the store, and if there was a long line, we would simply buy him the new Ninjago Snakes Lego set he had been eying in the catalog while plotting.
I figured we could go early and stop at the Stride Rite next door and see how Lex's shoes are fitting.
We get to the mall and find that Stride Rite has closed up shop permanently.
So we go to the Lego store, and find that we are early enough to get a spot in the line inside the nice warm store!
Then, we discover that we don't even need to stand in line!
Because it is so cold, the Lego store employees are passing out tickets to be redeemed for the Mini Build later in the evening.
So, we end up shopping in the Lego store for a while.
Connor gets his new Ninjago Snakes Battle Spinjitzu thing.
Lex gets a new Alien Conquest Lego set.
Then we go explore the mall while waiting for the Mini Build to start.
We stayed warm the whole time.
And Connor and Lex got their snakes.
The end.
