The Journey is Half the Fun: Part IV

So, you may be beginning to wonder how we ever get anywhere that we are actually going, what with all this stopping along the way going on. We did get to the Grand Canyon while we were in Northern Arizona...but along the way we spotted some airplanes parked on the side of the road...so we just had to stop...

It was the Planes of Fame Air Museum! It was about 4:30 in the afternoon, and the museum was going to be closing at 5:00 PM. Lex was asleep in his car seat, so I agreed to sit in the car with him while Daddy took Connor for a quick look at the planes.

Since I wasn't actually there for this part of our vacation, you're just going to have to make do with my imagined dramatic re-enactment, as told by Connor, based on photographic evidence. You'll see what I mean when I say that you can almost hear what he is thinking when you see the photos.

(Begin imagined dramatic re-enactment, as told by Connor.)

How you doing?
Do you see that airplane behind me?
It's a Blue Angel.

Only the toughest and bravest are allowed to be Blue Angels.
Like me.

Yes!
My Dad is going to take me in
to the museum to see more airplanes.
I have the coolest parents in the world!

Do you see that?
It's a bomb.
Do you see me?
I'm da bomb!

This is the fastest plane in the entire world.
It's the SR-71 Blackbird.
It seats only two people, and it can go 3,418 miles per hour!
It's probably my favorite airplane in
my favorite airplane book that I have at home.
I talk about it all the time.
Actually, I talk about inventing a plane
that goes faster than this one,
all the time, and when I get bigger,
I'm actually going to do it!

Oh my goodness gracious!
I cannot believe it!
Here is an airplane that people can build at home?!

Daddy, please take a picture of that sign
so that when we get home,

Mommy can click on it to enlarge it and read it,
because she is never going to believe this one!
An airplane that you can build at home!
What will they think of next?!

When can we build an airplane that I can fly?
I want one for my five-year-old birthday.

Propeller planes are so cool!
Oh, but we gotta run, the museum is going to close!

Sorry, Lex.
You missed all the airplanes because you were sleeping.

(End imagined dramatic re-enactment, as told by Connor. By the way, Connor cannot be held responsible for what I imagined he said. He may not have said it that way. Or maybe that's exactly what he said. I do know him pretty well.)
