We found it!
When we were first planning our trip, we looked up Route 66 on the internets, and discovered information that made us believe that we would never be able to discover Route 66 in Arizona, as it was a historic route that is no longer in use.
Hey, internet! Whatever!
We found Route 66 while in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Even though this photo was taken pre-losing of kids' sunglasses, they didn't have them on for some reason. Also, it was freezing cold and very windy. But the kids were good sports anyways. See? Daddy got them to smile.
Did you notice the sign for the Lowell Observatory? And the white round building on the mountain above our heads? That is one of the telescopes at the Lowell Observatory. We eventually made it there. You know, when it was finally open. These photos were taken at something like 7:00 AM. Because there is a significant time difference between Arizona and Ohio, our kids were waking up at 5:00 AM, and we were ready to start exploring very early. Before anything was open. I'll tell you about the Lowell Observatory later. I promise. For now, let's get back to our tour of Route 66.
We found Route 66 again, while in Williams, Arizona.
This diner reminded us all very much of Flo's V8 Cafe from the Pixar movie Cars. We would have gone in to check it out and order at least a soda, or a coffee, but as you can see, it was closed. Once again, we were exploring before 8:00 AM.
Let's just call this one our official "Route 66 Family Photo."
Note that Lex has his Robots book.
He wouldn't go anywhere without it.
Then, we tried to do one of those O-H-I-O photos that you see so many Ohio State alums do on vacation. Only, our kids aren't college graduates yet, and they got a bit confused on the correct spelling of Ohio.

It doesn't matter. I still love this photo!
Kevin is playing his part perfectly.
Lex is super enthusiastic!
And Connor is trying to check with me to see if we are doing it right.
And you can clearly see that I don't even care that we aren't.
Bonus points for trying!
