Where to Eat in Chicago: Dinner Edition

Kevin asked everyone we met in Chicago where the best deep dish pizza could be found, and everyone pointed us to the same place: Giordano's.

When we arrived, we were informed that there was a wait of approximately 40 minutes for a table.  And that it took approximately 45 minutes to make a pizza.  But, some genius had figured out that you could combine those wait times, and we ordered our pizza before we even got a table, so by the time we had a place to sit, our food would be almost ready.  And it worked like a charm!  We got a table, ordered drinks and a salad, and the next thing we knew, our supreme Chicago-style deep dish pizza was ready for us!  And it was extraordinarily yummy!

The second fabulous dinner we had was at the Stigel Chicago Brauhaus in Lincoln Square.  The food was as delicious as our favorite Das Schnitzel Haus in Ohio, but the venue reminded us more of Frank Sterle's Slovenian Country House (which also serves up a mean schnitzel, by the way).

We ordered a Huhner Schnitzel for the boys, which was a plain chicken schnitzel.  They call them giant chicken nuggets, and our boys love good chicken schnitzel.  And I can't blame them.

I ordered a Konigsberger Klopse, which are veal and beef meatballs in a white caper sauce served over mashed potatoes.  It was heavenly.  Kevin ordered a Sauerbraten, which is braised, marinated beef, served with spatzle and red cabbage.  I had some of his dinner, too, and it was fabulous!

After dinner, we walked around Lincoln Square for a bit before heading back to the hotel.  It really is a lovely little area. Stay tuned for an impending Lincoln Square photo dump.
