Color Your World

At first, I really didn't know what gift to give Great Grandpa Peter for his 90th Birthday.  I sort of felt that the kids should make him something, so I finally decided to take them to Color Your World, our local paint-your-own-pottery store.

The intention was to make him a joint gift, probably something with the boys' hand prints on it.  But then we got there and Connor found a football helmet that he really wanted to paint for himself.

According to Connor, this is the helmet for the Canada Badgers team, which is the newest NFL expansion team, and the first one in Canada!

So, I let Lex pick something out, too.  He picked a little puppy.

Both boys painted their pieces all by themselves.  And they loved doing it.  They want to go back and paint more things.

I ended up picking out a serving platter that I decorated and painted a "Happy Birthday" message on.  Then, one of the ladies who worked there helped the boys put their hand prints on the platter.

Connor's hand print is blue.  Lex's is green.

I was so impressed when we went to pick it up, because I thought it had turned out really well.  All the pieces did, in fact.

Lex decided that he wanted to give his puppy to Great Grandpa, too.

Great Grandpa was really pleased, because Ruth has been hassling him to get a dog. And now they have one!  Look how happy Ruth is!

The end.
