Some Homeschooling Things. That I Want to Remember.

Connor seems to really like being home schooled.  He was talking about how he is going to be in first grade next year, and I asked him if he wanted to go to school for first grade, or if he wanted to do first grade at home.  He said, "At home, duh!"

One of his favorite things was his physics workbook.  I say was because he has already finished it.  We finished it sometime in September, actually.

This experiment was about chemical reactions. We mixed baking soda and vinegar to create a chemical reaction that produced a gas that inflated the balloon. He loved it!

It only took overnight for the pennies to turn from shiny and new to green.

The thing that I really liked about this workbook was that I had just about everything that we needed for the experiments at home already.  I did have to go out and buy a 2 liter of soda for one, though, as we usually drink our pop in cans.

Since he finished this workbook, which was a short 2nd Grade Physics Workbook, I bought him a chemistry set from COSI that is supposed to be for 10 year olds.  Everything that we needed was included with the set, even some chemicals!  We have only done one experiment in this book, and we made a bubble solvent out of glycerin that we are going to use to make three dimensional shape bubbles.

Another workbook that Connor has already finished is the Pre K - K mazes workbook that I bought him just last month.  He finished it yesterday, and he is ready for some more challenging ones.  He loves mazes, and his love has rubbed off onto Lex.  Lex is currently working on Connor's old maze workbook, which is recommended for ages 4 to 6 year olds, and which Connor dismissed as being "too easy" last month.  But I can't blame them, mazes are fun!
