We will never have trouble getting Lex to eat his peas.

Part One

On Thursday night, the boys and I ate dinner together at home.  I made them cheese ravioli and peas.  Connor was none to pleased.  But Lex didn't mind at all.  He picked up one little pea, and popped it in his mouth.  Then he explained to Connor:

"These little green things are magic beans.  If you eat them, you will grow."

Even though I told Connor that Lex was right, he still wouldn't eat his peas.  Even with ketchup.  But, Lex ate them all.

Part Two

I've been taking the kids to the pool once a week ever since Lex was about two months old.  Our pool has a lazy river that you have to be 42 inches tall to enter.  There is a mark on the wall for the lifeguard to use in measuring the kids to see if they are tall enough to go into the lazy river.  Every Friday morning, for as long as Lex has been able to walk, he has gone to be measured to see if he is big enough yet.  He's been getting close for a while now, and this past Friday morning, he was finally tall enough!  When the lifeguard first told him that he was big enough to go, he didn't know what to do.  But once he was inside his tube, floating down the lazy river with me, he was pleased as pudding.

While we floated, we chatted.  Lex couldn't wait to tell Connor about it!  He said "Connor is going to be so impressed."  Then he listed off all the people that he wanted to tell:

"I'm going to tell Daddy, and he is going to be so impressed.
I'm going to tell Nana, and she is going to be so impressed.
I'm going to tell Grandpa, and he is going to be so impressed.
I'm going to tell Logan, and she is going to be so impressed.
I'm going to tell Julie, and she is going to be so impressed.
I'm going to tell..."

After that, he remembered the magic beans.  He told me that he was finally tall enough to go in the lazy river because he had eaten all those magic beans for dinner last night.  And because he had eaten his gummy bear vitamins every day.  And because he eats so much good food.

And of course, I told him that he was right.

by golly, I think Lex just wrote an amazing children's book...now you just need to have the boys illustrate it...then mama can publish it!
