We went the grocery store to pick out a character cake from their big book of character cakes, but there wasn't a Pokemon design to be had. So, Connor picked out all of his icing colors and designs, and then we put some of his Pokemon figures on top. The cake turned out exactly the way he wanted it.
He started with six Pokemon because he was six years old, but then he realized that he had one of every type except for grass type, so he wanted to add another one. I told him that was a fine idea because then he would have six Pokemon, plus one to grow on.
We also got some Pokemon balloons, and Connor decorated the Moose Lodge for his party.
I love that face!
Grandpa
(I love Lex's face in this one)
Notice the Pokemon shirt. That's important.
Connor is convinced that his friends Ethan and Noah are his cousins. I finally figured out why. I think it is because their mom's name is Sara, and I have an Aunt Sarah whom we have only seen once since Connor was born. Since he doesn't know Aunt Sarah, he just figured that the Sara we see all the time must be his aunt, and therefore Ethan and Noah must be cousins. If he got to pick his own cousins, they would be a natural choice.
Uncle Kevin gave Connor a shoe box full of his old Pokemon cards as a gift. Connor told me that it was the best present that he got for his birthday this year.
He also got a foam rocket with an air launcher. It's a pretty great gift, too, and everyone loves to play with it. The kids were shooting the rocket at the helium balloons for target practice. It turned out to be a pretty great invented-on-the-spot game.
Happy 6th Birthday, Connor! I love you!
