The Finished Pottery

Remember when Kevin and I went to a private pottery lesson and made our own pottery for our anniversary?

Well, the time had come for me to go pick up our finished pieces, and I like how they turned out!

This is the one I made that had a hole in the bottom.  When I made it, I didn't even expect to finish it, but I think it might be my favorite now!

Here is the Official Anniversary Vase:

This is the piece that I painted while it was still spinning on the pottery wheel.  I think it has the prettiest finish of them all, and if I ever do this kind of pottery thing again, I will paint everything while it is still spinning on the wheel.

Also, we didn't paint them with paint.  We used something called slip, which is like watered down colored clay.  Or something.  My Dad knows all about it, or so I've heard.

I made another little piece, and I had mentioned that it seemed perfect for holding Q-tips.  So early this morning, before anyone else had gotten out of bed, Connor quietly stole it off the kitchen counter and filled it up.  With Q-tips.  A lot of Q-tips.  All of them, actually.

I think he has claimed it for his bathroom.  Which is fine by me.  I am glad it is going to be put to good use, and I hope he cherishes this memento from his parents' 8th anniversary for a long time.
