On Saturday, we went to the Central Market around lunchtime.
Sidebar: Central Market reminded me of the North Market in Columbus mixed with Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati. It was awesome, and I will be going back. End sidebar.
It was approximately 100 degrees outside (99 degrees, to be exact), and we ended up sitting outside, in the shade mind you, but outside nonetheless, while we ate lunch and listened to a band play live music.
It was pretty nice actually. Hotter than Hades, but nice.
And then I started people watching and I noticed something.
In Ohio, if it was 99 degrees outside, people would be wearing as little clothing as possible. Seriously, and oftentimes inappropriately. (Did you know that it is legal in Ohio for a woman to be topless? I'm looking at you, Comfest.)
In Houston, on this afternoon when it was 99 degrees outside, people were wearing clothes. And lots of them.
I saw all sorts of people wearing jeans. Pants-length jeans, mind you.
One woman, about my age, pushing a stroller, was wearing jeans and a top and a cardigan sweater. Long sleeve. A SWEATER for the love of all things sweaty.
I saw a man wearing long jeans and a long sleeve shirt with a FLEECE VEST on. I almost expired of heat exhaustion just looking at that FLEECE VEST.
I mean, if they are waiting for it to get hotter before they break out their shorts and flip flops, what have we gotten ourselves into?!
