Books of the Week

Lex's favorite book this week is Cat Secrets by Jef Czekaj.  He loves pretending to be a cat, so that he can read the book, as the book is meant to be read by cats only.  He also loves the sneaky little mouse in the illustrations.

Connor and I are reading Mr. Popper's Penguins this week, and he seems to be really enjoying it.

He found a copy of it on the book shelf in his bedroom and brought it to me to read.  I think that Grandma Ella bought it for him.  It's an adorable book, and both Mr. Popper and the penguin are very silly.  It's a great chapter book for his age.

Also this week, we are reading Life of Fred: Cats.

It's our math textbook for homeschool, and it's the third book in the Life of Fred series.  He really liked the first one, and he did an honest-to-goodness dance of joy when the Amazon box with the next few books arrived.  We read the second book in about two weeks, and he has been asking to read this book several times a day.  We're going to finish it soon, and I'm going to have to order some more math books.  The Life of Fred is great, and I would recommend it to anyone with kids, not just homeschoolers, because it doesn't look, act or feel like a math textbook.  It's very sneaky that way.  You can read Fred before bed, and your kids will wake up smarter.  It's also a very silly book.  Connor likes that.
