I think I mentioned recently that I could do an entire post about the movies we watched over Christmas break, but at the time I really didn't mean that I was going to do such a post.
But now movies have become such a part of things going on here that it seems like maybe I should post such a post.
(How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?)
I've unintentionally started giving the kids an informal education in great movies. Like all the movies that they should see during their childhood so that they can be culturally relevant. And inspired. And have all the experiences and feels that movies can bring.
(A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could, if a woodchuck could chuck wood. But what would that look like? How would the woodchuck feel about it? A movie seems like the way to discover the answer to these things.)
So, here is a list of the movies that we have watched since December. (With the kids.) The ones I can remember, at any rate.
Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall (You can find it on Netflix right now.)
The Princess Bride (Because it's apparently one of Aaron Rodgers' favorite movies and he quotes it while playing football. It's an endlessly quotable flick.)
Clue ("This is war, Peacock!" - Col. Mustard.)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Annie (1982 version)
A Christmas Story
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Muppet Christmas Carol
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie
Home Alone
Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol
(Because Christmas)
What other classic movies should they see? We've got Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II ready to go.
They have already seen the original three Indiana Jones movies, as well as the five Star Wars movies that are rated PG. They saw ET, but not Flight of the Navigator. Yet.
Oh goodness. I'm about to make another list. I'm feeling like it's a listy-list-list kind of post....
Movies to Watch with the Kids:
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters II
Flight of the Navigator
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
(The Gene Wilder version, I think. Then we can read the book, and watch the Johnny Depp version, which matches the book more closely.)
Fantasia
The Wizard of Oz
Marry Poppins
Jurassic Park
