We visited yesterday afternoon with some friends, because the zoo here is free every Monday and the weather was a perfect. Sunny and 75 degrees with a gentle breeze.
So, we went to the zoo, and it's pretty tiny. There are some good animal exhibits to see, but we saw the entire zoo in about 30 minutes.
Some highlights:

Tigers! And not just tigers. There were lions and bears, too. Oh my!
There was also a lovely herpetarium with tons of great lizards and snakes and turtles. And there were a couple of giant tortoises. Oh, and some American bison, which Lex said were much smaller than he expected.
After we saw all the animals, we spent another half hour playing with our friends on the playground in the zoo. Which was great. So, we spent an hour at the zoo, it was completely free, and it was exactly enough for an interesting Monday afternoon outing.
P.S. When we were getting back into the SUV to go home, Lex asked if we could buy a truck when the SUV wears out a little bit more. Because Texas.
