We have really missed the Pokemon league that we used to go to in Houston. There was a ton of Pokemon players in the area, and there were so many leagues. We could go to Pokemon league a few days a week, and there were always special events and competitions going on.
There is no such organized Pokemon league here in Amarillo. At least, there wasn't. We are currently trying to start up a league here. It isn't an official league quite yet, as we are still waiting for Pokemon to finish doing a background check on me, but hopefully it will be soon.
In the meantime, we are trying to get word out that we are going to be having a league, and we have started regular meetings at the local comic book and card shop to teach kids how to play according to the rules so that they are ready to start when the league becomes official.
So many kids have cards but have no idea how to play with them. We have been doing it for about a month now, and we have had at least one other kid come every week to play Pokemon with Connor and Lex. It's getting off to a slow start, but it's a good start nonetheless.
As part of all this, the kids have started their very own Pokemon blog so that they can give their opinion on the cards that they have and how they use them. Check it out - the link is below!
