But, obviously, there are fish.
One of our favorites. The lionfish.
These kids loved the entire rain forest exhibit. There were so many different kinds of animals here. It was huge!
Did I mention that we are studying zoology this year in homeschool? Right now we are doing the rainforest biome, so this trip was pretty much perfect.
Red-Handed Tamarin
There were lots of different kinds of toucans. They were all beautiful.
Three-toed Sloth
These guys were just hanging out in the trees right over our heads. They were sleeping, because that's what sloths do. We could have reached out and touched them, except we didn't, because that would be rude.
Caught red-handed. Again. I liked these guys. They were quick and funny. And totally adorable.
There was a really big aquarium tank with lots of really big turtles and fish...
...and manatees...
...and lots of really big catfish.
Me and my boys!
Giant Anteater
This is still one of Connor's favorite animals.
American Flamingo
For Nana!
Harpy Eagle
This bird was huge! It was the size of one of the kids.
I bought the boys necklaces in the gift shop. Each one has a fossilized shark tooth. The kids are obsessed with them. They are really sharp. That's probably why there was a sign warning that they weren't recommended for children under the age of 12. Oops.
The boys love sharks. Obviously.
Brown Shark
Freshwater Sawfish
Moorish Idol (that's the black and yellow fish) and Red Mushroom Anemone
There were different aquarium exhibits representing the different aquatic habitats from locations all over the world.
Seahorses are one of my favorites...
...along with their cousins, the leafy sea dragons.
This fish is funny looking.
Flamboyant Cuttlefish. Toxic. Can ink. Also, surprisingly small.
Another favorite. Because Octonauts. Of course.
Now Lex is an Octonaut!
Black-Footed Penguin
Penguins are adorable. They are another of my favorite things.
