If you leave Amarillo and drive four hours to the west (with a slight turn before Albuquerque), you end up in Santa Fe, if you don't run out of gas at an inopportune moment in the desert.
We spent a little bit of time exploring the Santa Fe Plaza in downtown Santa Fe, where there are tons of historic buildings and monuments, museums and art galleries, and tons of little interesting shops and restaurants.
I really enjoyed the Chuck Jones Gallery, where we saw tons of stuff by Chuck Jones (think Looney Tunes and Snoopy) and Dr. Seuss. I had no idea that Dr. Seuss did actual paintings and sculptures, but he did, and they are wonderful.
We also found a wonderful little shop selling actual dinosaur fossils. For a lot of money.
We also found the end of the Santa Fe Trail.
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi
Lex got really interested in taking photos while we were walking around, and here are some great shots from his perspective:
(Kevin bought himself a new hooded sweatshirt.)
I ate blue tacos at the Blue Corn Cafe, upon the recommendation of a friend, and the guy at the Chuck Jones Gallery. The blue tacos are highly recommended.
Burro Alley. There were so many Burros. It was aptly named.
We also visited the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, but I didn't take any photos of that. It was wonderful. I love her paintings.
