Ocean Beach

We had been planing to take the boys to surf at Ocean Beach, but we did a little research and found out that surfing at Ocean Beach was actually a really terrible idea.  The rip current at this particular beach is so powerful that every year there are multiple deaths.  Grown surfers drown there all the time.  None of the locals surf there, it's usually tourists who don't know any better.

So, we found something better to do at Ocean Beach.



We flew our new kite!



You see, we bought this awesome, very expensive, dragon kite one night in Chinatown from a kite shop that we stopped in on the way to dinner, because one of the boys had to use the bathroom.



Restrooms are for paying customers only, so we started shopping.





There were so many fabulous kites of all shapes and sizes.





We picked out this awesome dragon kite, along with a very nice reel loaded with a ton of string.





It was totally great, and the ocean breezes and open spaces made flying the kite on the beach awesome.
