What is on the kitchen table?

Our kitchen table is right in the middle of the house, and it must have its own gravitational field. All sorts of things end up on the table, and I usually have to clear it off before we eat.  Every meal. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is always something there.

Right now we have a few games and a book.  Both of these games were gifts for the boys from their Uncle Kris.  He's got great taste in games.

This book is the third book in the Guardians of Childhood series by William Joyce.  We actually finished it last night at bedtime.

There was a really nice quote in this book:

"We've never had a crazier plan," he confided to Ombric.
"Nicholas, we have what we need.  Brave hearts.  And sharp minds," Ombric reminded him.  "And as you might recall, we always abandon our plans and end up doing things we never imagined."
North smiled.  The old man still had a thing or two to teach him.

This quote struck me, because right now I am planning what curriculum to use for the next school year. And this is kind of how I feel about homeschooling.  I always make plans, and then as we get into the school year, we begin by following the plan, and then we find new plans as we go along, and it always works out perfectly.
