Pokemon Sun & Moon

I took Connor to a sealed box tournament tonight for Pokemon Day.  (Happy 21st Birthday, Pikachu!)  This was an event where each player received 6 packs of the brand new Pokemon Sun & Moon cards, and then they had 30 minutes to build a 40 card deck using only the brand new cards they randomly received, along with any necessary energy cards.  Connor and I both love these types of tournaments, because the cards you receive are always a surprise, and at the end of the game, you get to take your new cards home with you.

The Pokemon league in Amarillo is pretty new.  We have only been two or three times, and there hasn't been a lot of other people who show up to play with.  But, I did expect that there would be some other kids who would want to participate in this tournament.  Unfortunately, there were not.

There were enough players to hold the tournament, but other than Connor, they were all adults.  So, he ended up having to play against adults.

He did really well in his age group, coming in first place, of course.  But he didn't do too badly against the adults, either.  After the Swiss rounds, he was in 5th place.  Only the top four players went on to the elimination matches, though, so he didn't get to continue competing.
