It's time to celebrate!
Connor helped me bake a lemon bundt cake with lemon cream frosting.
We celebrated by having cake for lunch.
We wanted to leave plenty of room and time before dinner, because we had reservations for Bones later that night. So, later in the day, we all got dressed up and headed out for dinner. We spent about two and half hours eating four courses.
For the appetizer course, we had:
Japanese Wagyu A4 New York Strip Steak,
Scotch Smoked Salmon with Onion, Capers and Dill Cream,
and Foie Gras on Brioche with Brie, Fig and Port Reduction.
For the soup and salad course, we had:
For the main course:
Kevin and Connor both ordered huge 24 oz. Porterhouse steaks.
Lex picked the Crab Stuffed Trout with Haricots Vert and Marcona Almonds.
I selected the Mixed Grill with Filet Mignon, Lamb, and Pheasant Sausage.
We shared a family style side of Truffle Butter Mashed Potatoes.
For dessert:
Mountain High Pie
I also had a lovely glass of German Riesling called Dr. Loosen "Blue Slate" Kabinett.
It was a fantastic dining experience.
Then, we headed out the next morning to do some kayaking on the Chattahoochee River by Morgan Falls.
Connor and Lex sang sea shanties.
There once was a ship that put to seaThe name of the ship was the Billy of TeaThe winds blew up, her bow dipped downOh blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)

We took our official kayaking family photo after we got off the water this year, so we are all wet and wind blown. Kayaking hair, don't care. Just think of this as the "After" photo.
Happy Birthday, Kevin!
