I just read The Art of the Possible by Kenneth Koch, who was a poet who felt that poetry didn't have to be limited to the traditional line form. In fact, he thought that the comic format was an entirely acceptable format for poems.
His book was very entertaining, although I didn't grasp all of it. (I feel like I got most of it, though.) My two favorite poems were two of his "Kenya Comics," and I've posted the first one with this entry.
