Never change your oil at night

Kevin decided last night to change the oil in his new car for the first time. He waited until after dinner to get started, which was pretty late. Then, since it was too dark to see what he was doing, even though he was in the garage with the light on, he decided to turn on the headlights.

Later that night, I went in and checked on him, and he said he would be done in about 20 minutes, so I got in bed. I feel asleep, and he woke me up around 1:30 in the morning to help him jump start his car. (He had driven my car to Wal-Mart and bought jumper cables right around 1:00 in the morning, because the battery had died from leaving the headlights on for so long.) Anyways, that didn't work, and we decided just to go to bed and sort it out today.

We got up early so that I could drive him to work, but, just as I expected, the battery had re-charged enough in the night so that he was able to start it this morning. But, since I was woken up in the middle of the night, and had to get up early, today I am exhausted.

From now on, I say that Kevin is only permitted to work on his car on the weekend. During the day. When it is nice and sunny and warm outside. And, early enough so that any problems he encounters can be resolved before dinner.
