Stories from Our 7th Anniversary

The very first order of business once we reached Chicago was to take Connor and Lex to the top of the Hancock Tower.

But before we got to the top, we had to stop to check out the big Lego Hancock Tower on display.

Kevin and I actually took Connor to the Hancock Tower when he was a very small baby, so we have a little Lego Hancock Tower at home.  So this was of particular note to us.  Well, that, and it's made from Legos.  I'm sure it wouldn't be more impressive to Connor if it was made of solid gold.  Or chocolate, even.  That kid loves him some Legos.  But I digress.

And so we went to the top of the Hancock Tower to enjoy the fabulous view of Chicago (and Lake Michigan) and we took the fastest elevators in America to get there.  I guess that if the Hancock Tower can't be the tallest in Chicago, they can at least boast about the elevators.  And boast they did.  Those elevators were not only fast, but they were talking elevators, and reminded you several times per ride that they were the fastest in America.  Just so you wouldn't forget.  But I digress.

And now, the view:

While we were there, the boys did a quick stint cleaning some of the windows:

Then the kids did the interactive audio tour.  The tour asked the kids to look down at certain points and find things on the ground, kind of like a scavenger hunt.  Connor really enjoyed it.

So did Lex, actually.  He cried when he had to give it back as we were leaving.  He said that it was his cell phone, and I ended up letting him play with my cell phone for a few minutes to sooth his hurt feelings.  I'm pretty sure he called Nana right away to tell her all about the time he went to the top of the Hancock Tower.
